[Have the resident cowboy Spartan, Sacrosanct. The feed's a little shaky, catching just half of his face before it takes in a sweeping view of the countryside. He's chilling out on a grassy knoll somewhere, sans armour, looking relatively at ease for, you know, a terrifying space marine. The view shifts a moment after, directed upwards.]

Guy's gotta know.

[And the feed focuses in on this particular cloud formation.]

Duck? Foot? Ceremonial alien weapon? Atmospheric indigestion?

293, out.

You know, putting curry in a cake doesn't work out half so well when I do it.

[ooc; Thom's chilling out in a garden zone. Trip over him if you'd like? <3]

[audio --> visual ]

[... lady, you gotta get out more.]

Okay, this is how I explained it to somebody else.

[video on! it has a view of his (admittedly scarred up) hands. He makes a circle with his index fingers and thumbs.]

So, from your perspective, this is a circle, right? But the shape suggests it could also be a sphere, because our minds sort of automatically associate the two with each other.

[is he even making sense HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN THINGS TO A CIVVIE...]

So yeah, I mean, it's a cloud, all that scientific stuff. But that doesn't mean it can't suggest the existence of something else.

[... he sort of. flails the video off. how do.]

[she just :| at him because seriously, discussion geometry to a ship. these are not the same as clouds]

Realising an object has both a two-dimensional and three-dimensional component is not the same as suggesting the properties of one object become that of another. A cloud is a formation of water vapour; it is not a boot.

[oh hello technobabble will you marry him.]

I'm not saying that a collection of water vapour is a boot, though. I'm saying it can evoke the thought of a boot.

[well well :3]

And I am saying that is foolish.

Human perception has that effect on people.

[totally good-natured. He doesn't even care that you're walking on his balls, he likes smart people.]

Humans are particularly annoying creatures, I admit.

[what a coincidence, she also likes smart people!]

[hey he's smart. HE CAN MULTIPLY BIG NUMBERS IN HIS HEAD. and also do quantum physics.]

Hey, you can't just mention the positive qualities.

I mentioned some?

Being annoying can be a positive quality. You know, when it's the difference between going extinct and irritating the hell out of the aliens that want you dead.

[Totally casual, and not a personal experience at all.]

It is my experience that humans are impossible to eradicate. There is something about them that makes them immune to extinction.

[naaaw, most definitely not]

Yep. Our uncanny ability to irritate everything.

I cannot argue with that observation.

[he is just grinning.]

You got a name?

I am the TARDIS.

Thom. Noble Seven. Choose your poison.
